Jharkhand residents are set to benefit from a new electricity policy implemented by the Hemant Soren government, providing up to 200 units of electricity free of charge to eligible consumers. Effective from July, this initiative will reflect in consumers' August electricity bills. The scheme, aimed at easing financial burdens, particularly impacts those using up to 400 units per month.
The Energy Department's resolution mandates that only domestic and urban electricity consumers, along with agriculture and irrigation sectors, qualify for this subsidy. With approximately 4.33 lakh consumers in Ranchi alone falling within the eligible bracket, the scheme is anticipated to reach a substantial portion of the state's 45,77,616 electricity users.
